Reflections of nature exhibition

This is a collaboration of art works from 4 artists Angie Archibald, Karen Cipressi, Michelle Goodchild and myself.  We have booked the Richard Randall Art Studio at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens on the 7th, 8th and 9th October.

My work is visually influenced by my surroundings which is inspired by natures textures, colours and movement then reinterpreted into sculptural and functional forms.

l am madly sanding, glazing, firing like a mad woman with the realisation that there is only 1 month until the opening.  I am a mix of focused calm, nervous anticipation and screamable excitment.

Im trying to upload flyer though having trouble, hmmmm.

Buranda State School, Fete in the Forest ice sculpture

It was a great way for the school community to connect together and raise money for the school. There where home made cakes, sausage sizzles, clothing stalls, art and craft, bric a brac and best of all a real coffee. I had my delicate porcelain bowls for sale in the art craft stall which where popular. I was one of many people whom worked at the fete, though l diversified from my clay sculptures. It was the first time l had ever picked up an ice pick and chisels and l was full of excited/nervous anticipation. After Joe, the owner of Ice Art explained to me the fundamentals of what to do, l was let loose on a 130kg block of ice. I had drawn 3d pictures of the Koala so l knew what proportions l would need and this gave me visual guides to refer back too. I had to keep circling the sculpture while l worked so it would melt evenly, chipping away was very cathartic. After 2hrs l had completed my Koala, my hands where sore but there was immense satisfaction once finished. I would love to try it again.

Redlands Indigiscape Centre School Holiday Program

I had 3 clay workshops booked during the June/July school holidays at Redlands Indigiscape Centre. The themed workshops are to get children to have fun with clay while thinking about our local wildlife and their habitat. Animal anitics, Mobile magic and Animals in my garden tealights where popular with full classes for each workshop. Clay is a great medium to help childrens  build their fine motor skills. In breaking down the process on how to handbuild animals in an 1.5hr workshop, it enabled the children to complete something to take home which is a positive and encouraging result.
I love what l do.

Travelling Scholarship Noosa Regional Gallery

I have submitted work for the proposed study progam through the travelling scholarship.
To keep evolving as an artist, I would like to pursue my education further through Tertiary study. By studying at the Australian National University, under the guidance of Australian and International Ceramic lecturers would expand my mastery of skills in the specialised field of ceramics. I would utilize this opportunity to explore the unlimited potential of ceramics, glazing and mixed media through the development of conceptual projects to create aesthetically diverse sculptures.
Fingers crossed

I found out l was selected as 1 of 40 finalists
