Artisan Cherish 2010

More exciting news my hand made porcelain spoons and wheel thrown porcelain bowls have been accepted into Artisans Cherish 2010 Christmas markets. I have made hand made the spoons and they are bisqued fired, they just need to be resanded for the glazing process. I need to get in some practice of throwing to make sure the bowls have a thin even walls to show off the transulcent quality of the porcelain. The concept is similar though constantly evolving, l keep expanding and trying out my ideas.

New Post Old News

I should of created this blog site months ago and l then could of documented the concept, the making and raku firing of my sculpture named PHOENIX. I did a raku workshop with Western Suburbs Clayworkers, my first raku and l am hooked. A raku kiln is fired between 600 - 900 degrees then you put you ceramic work into a garbage bin of sawdust and newspaper to smolder for 10 - 20mins. The results are variable from piece to piece, its like christmas when you open the garbage bin lid and start hosing down your work. I entered this work into the sculpture exhibition at the EKKA August 5 - 14th. To my excitement my sculpture has sold and now has relocated to NSW.
